Acting Sweet
*Sorry it's been a while since I have posted anything. I have started working full time and am about to launch our new Thin and Healthy Program this Sunday at our Open House, which I am the Director of. Not only that, but I am in charge of putting the Open House together. No pressure or anything. So with all the medications I am on for my leg/knee still, I have been absolutely exhausted. Since I hadn't slept in 9 months they put me on a sleeping pill and for the first time in almost 10 months, I am actually sleeping through the night (sometimes). It's better than nothing. And my Acupuncture is starting to go really well, so I am starting to get hopeful that at least my knee will get better. I most likely will have this nerve pain for life, but I am trying to still minimize the discomfort with medication. I will try to get better about posting, but no promises...sorry.

Makenna had her Super Star Week at School a couple weeks ago. She was sent home a "vest" out of a brown paper bag for her to decorate. She put all of her favorite things on it. I think she did a great job. She also got to bring in 2 pictures so she choose the one of the Harrison's from last Christmas and the one of her and Jackson from Valentine's Day. The one of her, Mark and Madison is from the Zoo because it was "Z" Week. I know it looks like I helped her, but I promise I let her do all the choosing. She went in the spare bedroom and went through the pictures herself. She has been drawing, coloring, and writing a ton lately. I think she is going to end up always having a journal like me. She writes in her notebook everyday and is even starting to write words on her own. She is just too smart for her own good. We were driving home today from Jill's house where her and Adison were playing "Jill and Ashlee" and were pushing their baby dolls around in real strollers with Jill's sunglasses on. So this was our conversation on the way home:

Ash: "How many kids do you want to have when you grow up?"

Makenna: 18 and 60.

Ash: No, how many...like I have two...you and Mark..Aunt Bethany has 3... so how many do you want to have?

Makenna: 18+1

Ash: So, 19...18+1?

Makenna: No, Mom, Just 18.

Ash: Wow, that's a lot.

Makenna: Yeah, and you're going to be 100 when I have my kids.

Ash: Oh, really 100...that's pretty old...Are you going to take care of me?

Makenna: We'll see.

Ash: We'll see? So, you're not going to take care of me?

Makenna: I said WE'LL SEE. That doesn't mean no, but it doesn't mean yes either, it means we'll see.

Ash: (In Shock) Okay.

Makenna: Besides, you're going to be in a wheelchair anyway.

Ash: (In shock again) Why I am going to be in a wheelchair? Are you at least going to push me in my wheelchair?

Makenna: You're going to be in a wheelchair because you're old and no, I'm not going to push you, you can push yourself.

At that point, I had to stop the conversation. She just blows me away.

Facing Fears

Mark with his wallet. He has been saving all of his money lately.

Mark is always the sweetest boy, however, last week, while he and Makenna were playing in the toy room, he walked out and shut off the light. Makenna started whining and said, "Mom, Mark shut the light off on me." He started to say, "I didn't..." and I said, "Don't even deny it, I watched you do it." So his reply was, "I was just trying to get her to face her fears Mom." I couldn't believe my ears. He never does or says things like that. That was such a Makenna thing to say. But I almost started laughing because it was pretty funny.

Curly Q - Part 2

Here is the final product of Makenna having the curlers in her hair. It was SUPER curly! Her hair is so thin though, that by the time she got out of school it was almost completely out. Oh well. We had fun. :)

Curly Q

Makenna wanted to have curly hair for school last week so I put some curlers in her hair after her shower before bed. I was surprised that she slept all night, but she did great. Check back tomorrow for her curly hair pics!

Valentine's Day in PA

Makenna and Madison lovin' on Tyler
Makenna and Madison so sweet together

Jackson wide awake

Here are some pictures of Makenna, Tyler, Madison, and Jackson on Valentine's Day. We had a great day. Madison, Makenna, and Tyler came downstairs to presents from Bethany, we took Madison to the bus stop, then went to Giant Eagle. Makenna bought a rose for her Aunt Bethany and then wanted to buy cake mix to make a cake and cupcakes for Madison. We came home and when we put Tyler down for a nap, Makenna and I baked cupcakes and a cake. When Madison came home, her and Makenna decorated the cupcakes, and Tyler helped me decorate the cake. We had a great day!

CASS Student of the Month

CASS: Creating a Safer School: A program in which school officials and students come together to change the social culture in their school. (An anti-bullying program)

On Wednesday, Mark brought home a certificate stating that he was the CASS Student of the Month. Apparantly, there was an assembly at school and a winner was announced for each grade level where they walked up on the stage in front of the whole school, got their certificate, and then took their picture. We are SO VERY PROUD of Mark for receiving this award. He was voted for this award by his peers. He is just such a sweet, kind boy. We are so lucky to have such a great kid. For an example of just how sweet and considerate he is...we decided to take Mark out to Red Robin that night to celebrate his award. Aunt Cebra and Uncle Mike met us out there. After dinner, Aunt Cebra asked Mark which dessert he wanted, he picked out one, and Makenna picked out another, so at first he conceeded to her, then she said she wanted the other one that he wanted, and he perked up and said, "Yeah, that one." So on this dessert, there is whipped cream that comes on the top. Mark doesn't like whipped cream, but Makenna does. When ordering it, he asked the waitress for 2 cherries on top (instead of one so they could each have one) and no whipped cream on his cherry. She said, "Got it, no whipped cream" and started to walk away. Mark then turned back to get her attention and said, "Excuse me, we still need whipped cream on one half, just not the other. My sister likes whipped cream." It was so amazing that he knew the waitress didn't quite understand what he was saying, so he called her back over to make sure she got it right, so Makenna wouldn't be upset. And when she brought them out, they were even on two separate plates, one with whipped cream and one without. I think it was because he was so kind and sweet that she made it special for each of them. I just pray and pray that no matter what, he always stays this way. :)
